A march with an impact: The PGA rallye on the eve of the #HLD2013


migrant march 1Better late than never – here are finally some of the pcitures I took during the PGA March on the eve of the UN HLD in October. Events kicked off with a labor-community rallye right opposite the Homeland security HQ in Manhattan, and led over the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn Park.

Apparently, the march with an attendance of several hundred participants had a direct impact on the UN  proceedings during the following two days:

While on the evening of 2 October it suddenly looked for a while as if the participation of Civil Society in the High-Level Dialogue might get drastically limited right, apparently some reconsideration took place overnight. According to PGA organizers, the UN organizes might have decided that it would look bad if there were similar protests right outside their gathering, so they at leat partially gave in.
